Yom Kippur, also called the Day of Atonement, is a Jewish holy day. The holiday is observed with prayer, fasting, and synagogue services. The date occurs on the 10th day of the month Tishrei in the Hebrew calendar. Tishrei is the first month of the civil year and the seventh month in the ecclesiastical year.
